Are you sitting comfortably?

Whether it’s a squashy sofa to sink into and watch your favourite film, a smart Chesterfield to add style to a drawing room, or a rattan suite in a light and airy conservatory, you’ll want to make sure whichever sofa you choose works for both your room and your lifestyle.

Pattern or plain?

Colourful, patterned fabrics are practical and won’t show marks as easily as plain cotton or linen but might not work so well if your taste changes and you can’t afford a new sofa!

Neutral colours will sit well against any paint or wallpaper, and you can add a pop of colour with piles of scatter cushions, which you can change when you get bored. Cream and white can even work with families and dogs – just add stylish throws over the seat and back to protect your sofa from messy eaters and muddy paws.

Leather

The ultimate in practicality – no need to worry about toddler spills or muddy paws, a leather sofa is perfect for families and dog owners; just wipe clean with a soft cloth. Whether butter soft or vintage cracked, leather will become more characterful as it ages, giving you years of practical, comfortable use.

Slip covers

Just right if you're going for a relaxed, country vibe, the shabby chic slip-covered sofa is all about comfort and charm. Not only is it a great relaxed look that just invites you to kick back, but the covers can be easily removed and cleaned.

Chesterfield

A traditional Chesterfield with its deep seat, diamond tufted back and fat scrolled arms makes a strong statement – especially in a study or library.  Keep it classic in leather or go for a modern twist with a bright velvet or textured tweed.

Rattan

A traditional choice for conservatories but this look can also work well in a casual family room or bedroom.

Velvet

Always on trend, a soft velvet sofa adds timeless warmth to a room. At first glance it may not seem the most practical choice, but velvet doesn’t have loose threads or a raised weave that can be caught and pulled, and its flat pile means dirt and pet hairs can be easily brushed away. Velvet is also perfect for adding drama – it works beautifully in jewelled tones of ruby, emerald and electric blue.

Love seat

These little beauties are just as comfy as a normal sofa but their small size makes them not only perfect for snuggling, but also just right for a cosy corner, office or bedroom.

Sectional sofa

Extremely practical, sectional sofas come in several independent pieces that be arranged in different positions to fit your space. A favourite for casual sitting rooms, this kind of sofa gives lots of space for extra visitors or large families and is perfect for creating seating around corners for easier conversation and TV nights.
