If you’re thinking of giving your walls a fresh new look for spring, consider the trending paint colours for 2022; the shades you select will be the backdrop to your everyday lives, so it’s important to choose wisely.

Here, we look at what industry experts are predicting the key trends will be this coming year.

Dulux has named Bright Skies as its Colour of the Year 2022. This light, uplifting blue is like a breath of fresh air, bringing the bright optimism we need as we emerge from a dark couple of years. Bright Skies will make small spaces seem larger, and bring light where natural sunshine is limited.

Farrow & Ball predicts simple, familiar colours in clever combinations will be big in 2022. It names spicy yellow Babouche, Breakfast Room Green, School House White, warm red Incarnadine and Stone Blue as its top shades for the coming year.

Sherwin Williams has gone for Evergreen Fog as its colour of the year for 2022. This soft grey green is versatile, soft and subtle and will work well in any space.

Another soft green is the order of the day for the experts at Benjamin Moore, who are going with October Mist as their pick for 2022. This silvery shaded sage is mild enough to act as a neutral and is easy to pair with other colours from soft to bold and everything in between.

Things get more dramatic at Paint and Paper Library, with a focus on darker tones that create comfort and intimacy. Blackened denim Kigali, charcoal blue toned Squid Ink, rich brownish red Masai, and deep, warm Muga are their shades of choice.
